I have been part of the Pastoral Care Team at Didcot Baptist Church since January2015. Our small team, which includes our Ministers, meets weekly to discuss and pray for those within the church who might need help, be it practical support, a visit, phone call or prayer and then between us we try to provide this. Pastoral care is however not limited to the Pastoral Care Team and it is great that much care and support for one another happens amongst the church family as a whole.
In May 2017 I was pleased to be able to take on the role of Deacon with particular responsibility for pastoral care. It is a privilege and joy to be able to serve the church in this way.
I have a background of study in Modern Languages (German and Russian) and Social Work and have had various jobs in the social field, including working with asylum seekers, troubled young people, the long-term unemployed and women in crisis pregnancy. I currently work part-time as Churches Refugee Networking Officer for the small charity Christian Concern for One World and as German Language Assistant at Didcot Girls’ School.
I grew up in North Yorkshire and later lived in northern Germany and the North East of England. I became a Christian when I was fourteen and have been a member of Methodist, Lutheran and Anglican churches before joining Didcot Baptist Church when we moved here in 2014.
I am kept busy with my paid jobs as well as helping at Didcot Baptist Church and with Christians Against Poverty and Prayer Spaces in Schools, and looking after my family – my husband and two daughters. I enjoy walking and spending time with family and friends.
