From May 2017 I was Pastoral Care Deacon at DBC and it was a privilege and joy to be able to serve the church as part of the committed pastoral care team. Through a process of discernment over many months I sensed my calling to focus on the growing international ministry of the church. So in January 2025 I moved to the new role of International Ministries Deacon.
I have a background of study in Modern Languages (German and Russian) and Social Work and have had various jobs in the social field, including working with asylum seekers, troubled young people, the long-term unemployed and women in crisis pregnancy. Most recently I was the Refugee Networking Officer for Christian Concern for One World (CCOW). I currently work part-time as German Language Assistant at Didcot Girls’ School and continue in a small roll with CCOW networking with churches and others in the Didcot area around supporting refugees.
I grew up in North Yorkshire and later lived in northern Germany and the North East of England. I became a Christian when I was fourteen and have been a member of Methodist, Lutheran and Anglican churches before joining Didcot Baptist Church when we moved here in 2014.
I am kept busy with my paid jobs, my voluntary roles at Didcot Baptist Church in the international café, English language class, Cantonese Alpha and Dorcas sewing project teams, and also looking after my family – my husband and two daughters. I enjoy walking and spending time with family and friends.
